Between our bigger games, we make a lot of small things: jam games, prototypes, and ideas we want to try before they grow up. Until now, most of them stayed on our hard drives. Barkhalla Labs is where they live now, and every one of them runs right in your browser.
Why we built the Labs
Making games has never been faster. With AI speeding everything up, Steam now gets around 70 new games every single day. For a small studio, making a good game isn't enough to be seen any more, so we needed other ways to back our work. That's why we built the Labs: a place where you can play what we make right away, and where a small membership helps us keep making it.
Free for everyone
Five games are free. You don't need an account; log in if you want your saves to follow you and to rate the games.
Super SoccerFREEPixel-art arcade football: slide tackles, power shots and a World Cup to win.
Below the KeepFREEHack through procedural dungeon floors, grab relics and topple the slime boss.- Super Soccer: play solo or with a friend on the same keyboard. We built it by following The GameDev Tavern's Super Soccer course and learnt a lot doing it.
- Below the Keep started from Matinator's roguelike tutorial, with changes of our own.
- Crown Chasers: a hand-drawn couch brawler. Grab the crown, hold your ground, don't fall off.
- Beyond The Spin: five ink-drawn minigames, five spun headlines. Play each one to find the real story.
- The Dimenshaper demo: our precision platformer. Shift dimensions mid-jump and chase the perfect run.
For members
- Bonecaster: our Norse dice roguelite. Carve your bones, bend the odds. Log in and your saga follows you to any device.
- Croak Signal: keep a dead radio tower talking in Morse, by flashlight, while the marsh frogs sing.
The membership
A membership is $3 a month, and new members get the first 7 days free. Cancel before day 7 and you pay nothing.
- Every Labs game unlocked, in your browser
- Downloads for Windows, Mac and Linux. They just run: no launcher, no account, no internet needed
- Keep your downloads, even if you cancel
- Invites to playtest our upcoming Steam games
- Your name in the credits of our new games
- Cancel any time
Above all, it's a way to back a small independent studio from Hamburg. Every membership goes straight into making more games.
What's next
More games are on their way into the Labs. Away from the Labs, Dimenshaper is heading to Early Access on Steam at the end of 2026, and Hexactly arrives on Google Play in November.
